I hadn’t really been to any restaurants in the Storrs area until going to Hops 44, and my expectations were exceeded! It was clear to see why they were recognized as having the second best wings in the state, and the elote dip, bacon, and margarita flight were all fantastic. Our waitress and the owner were both so friendly, and we loved the vibe of the restaurant! If you’re a UCONN student, you’re lucky to be near such a great place. I’ll be keeping Hops 44 in mind for places to stop on the way back from a trip up north too!
Great tap room and restaurant. Friendly staff, fast service, good food. Always a good atmosphere, with live music, games and activities regularly. The bar has an above average whiskey selection too.
After several tries (please note the business hours) we finally made it to Hops 44, and I was glad we did. The UConn students had dispersed for the summer and service was excellent. I can only imagine the sound level... They had a large collection of games by the door to keep you amused while consuming liquid and other refreshments. The beer selection was large and quite varied, and the barbecue selections most tempting. I got the three taco barbecue assortment (each one tastier than the last), son swiftly enveloped his cheeseburger and fries, and my wife enjoyed a pulled pork sandwich. It was the sort of meal you would have savoured again if you weren't so delightfully full. We SHALL return!
Simply wow place. We wanted eat around UConn and found this gem. Food, service, atmosphere all are amazing! Looking to sit outside in summer. We ordered potato soup, caprese flatbread, Nashville chicken sandwiches fried and grilled both were awesome! We also had fried cauliflower bites, they were good too. I loved all the homemade sauces like hot and sweet came with cauliflower bites. Spicy sauce in chicken sandwiches was just wow! We also had beer and it was great! This is must visit place! I will go again to try more food!!kids ordered warm cookie with ice cream and it was delicious! Update: 9/21-Berry pudding was awesome too. Chicken wrap was good. Arugula salad was missing something.
Came right when they opened. The Traditional Pretzel was fresh, hot, and delicious. They had my go-to Happy Dad flavor, grape. Service was quick and Billie Jo was excellent. Looking forward to coming back for more!
5/23/26 - our 1st time here- LOVE LOVE LOVE this place. Our server was Bobby, LOL , he was a hoot!!! Great server!!! All the staff were so attentive, AMAZING experience. We had the shrimp as an appetizer, I had the taco trio (brisket, chicken and pork), my husband had a cranberry, turkey melt (he inhaled it before I could try it), drinks, mango cake and THE BEST FREAKING PISTACHIO CHEESECAKE EVER!!! Phenomenal visit!!! We will definitely be return customers!! Oh and the bathrooms were so clean too!!! I love how the inside bathroom door had the no touch open!!! Ty for an amazing time!!!
I'm kinda in shock. This was the best restaurant experience so far in my 74 years! The bloody Marys were delicious, with a hearty piece of perfectly cooked bacon, dill pickle wedge, and olives. The chicken wings were beyond amazing. We had the "plain" buffalo wings, altho there was nothing plain about them. They were crispy and they were smoked! And served on a quarter sheet pan with lots of celery and blue cheese dressing. The two bartenders were entertaining and attentive. We will be back!
We loved our experience here. We stopped in to meet with friends, but we just missed them. But we decided to stay and have dinner because we loved the vibe. The staff was amazing, very helpful with recommendations and even letting us try some samples before we decided on drinks. There was live music too, which was nice. Lots of space too, which is nice for us because our son is on oxygen and we have to bring his stroller in. We tried the pork belly for appetizer, which was delicious and came out on the cutest presentation. We shared the bacon bbq burger and wings. Everything was delicious. We will definitely come back.

I've been wanting to try out this restaurant after hearing about for Restaurant Week about two years ago. My relative and I finally got to try it on December 27th, 2025. It was super cold that day. We came an hour before opening because we were unaware when they opened. As we were headed back to the car to leave, the owner, manager or just someone who works there happened to arrive at that exact moment and invited us in on the spot despite being an hour early. It is such a friendly moment. The person seemed to be quite excited for us to be there and got more excited when I mentioned it was our first time coming here. We got inside and my relative and I found a table. The restaurant is super cozy! The interior is warm, welcoming, and has beautiful decorations. My relative ordered a BBQ sandwich with chips and I ordered a cheeseburger with chips. We were both super satisfied with our meal. That was one of the best tasting burgers I've ever had. I was so close and tempted to ask for another one to take home. The same person who let us into the restaurant also waited on us and he continued to make us feel welcomed. He is super friendly. I cannot wait to go back to this restaurant! Highly recommend!
